Residence Permit in the Russian Federation



A foreigner with a Temporary Residence Permit in the Russian Federation has the right for obtaining a Permanent Resident Status.
 
RESIDENCE PERMIT is a document granting an alien the right to reside in the Russian Federation
permanently .

In order to obtain a Residence Permit, a foreigner with a temporary resident status must constantly live in Russia for at least one year*.

The main difference between the Temporary Residence Permit and the Residence Permit is that the Residence Permit is valid for 5 years and can be renewed thereafter.

For most of foreigners, especially for those from countries subject to the RF visa requirements, the Residence Permit is the final point in the process of the status change. Residence Permit grants the right of visa-free entry into the Russian Federation. Having Residence Permit releases its owner from necessity to obtain any kind of permissions for working in Russia. This also gives a foreigner the right to stay in Russia for as long as desired.

the Russian Citizenship, obtaining Residence Permit is an obligatory condition in the most cases.

* - citizens of the Republic of Belarus have the right to obtain Residence Permit without getting TRP first.
